Campo Choir 2026 Musical: HADESTOWN

Producer and Music Director: Mark Roberts

Director: David Pinkham

Choreographer & Assistant Director: Renee DeWeese

Hadestown: Teen Edition is a full-length adaptation of Anaïs Mitchell’s award-winning folk opera, specially tailored for teen performers and family audiences. The musical follows two intertwined love stories—those of hopeful young artists Orpheus and Eurydice, and the powerful rulers of the underworld, Hades and Persephone. Set to a rich blend of American folk music and New Orleans–inspired jazz, Hadestown takes audiences on an imaginative journey that explores big ideas like trust, perseverance, and the power of love, all while celebrating music, storytelling, and community.

Anaïs Mitchell is a Vermont-based singer-songwriter and the Tony and Grammy award-winning creator of the Broadway musical Hadestown, for which she wrote book, music and lyrics. In 2019, Hadestown won eight Tony Awards overall, including Best Musical, as well as the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.

Content & Themes for Families:
Hadestown: Teen Edition is appropriate for high school audiences and families. While the story is rooted in Greek mythology and includes references to hardship and the underworld, it emphasizes hope, resilience, and the importance of compassion. There is no explicit content, and themes are presented in a thoughtful, age-appropriate way that encourages discussion and reflection.
